Shelbourne FC is delighted to announce the signing of winger Yassine En-Neyah from Nottingham Forest and Kameron Ledwidge after his most recent spell at Southampton FC.

21-year-old En-Neyah joined the Nottingham Forest academy in 2017 and can play as an attacking-midfielder or winger.

He made his professional debut on 5 January 2020, appearing as an 81st-minute substitute during an FA Cup third round match against European Champions Chelsea.

En-Neyah holds Irish citizenship and has represented Ireland at under-16 level, but he was born in Morocco.

Known as Nas, En-Neyah came through the ranks at Corduff FC in Blanchardstown before moving to Nottingham Forest.

Shels have also signed left-sided defender and Republic of Ireland underage international Kameron Ledwidge.

Ledwidge had an integral part of both the U16s and U17s Ireland squads and played in the U17 EURO Championship.

The former St Kevin’s Boys left back is a powerful athlete and a strong defender and has already gained significant Premier League 2 experience.

Both players are eligible for this evening’s First Division clash against Cobh Ramblers.

Shels boss Ian Morris says the “atmosphere is going to be electric” Friday night as Tolka Park welcomes back all season ticket holders into the ground.

The Reds face a crucial SSE Airtricity League First Division tie against Cobh Ramblers on Friday as they look to continue their impressive league form.

“The increased crowd will be fantastic for the players and we’ve spoken how it’s important they feed into that,” Morris said.

“If the crowd of only 100 were that loud, then this would be brilliant,” he added.

However, Morris knows there’s a tough clash ahead with recent managerial changes in the Cobh set up likely “bringing a buzz about their place.”

“You always need to be weary. They’ve a lot of new coaches and had a really good win in the cup so you have got to be prepared for that,” he added.

“The player’s effort and application will have to be top notch like it has been in the season so far and I’ve no doubt they’ll bring that again,” Morris told club media.

The Shelbourne Manager said other teams are “starting to come at us hard and fast” but that his Shels side will “look to out that flame out” as they come into a pivotal few weeks in the league campaign.

“You have to be prepared and keep plugging away. We’ve got the players and characters for the drive to come back from last week like we’ve shown all season,” he added.

Despite last week’s cup loss, Morris said the camp isn’t focused on that but look to ensure they will take our chances going forward.

Yoyo Mahdy resumed training this week and will have a late test to see if he will be in the match day squad Friday. New signing Eric Molloy will also be available for selection.

Shels have no suspensions for Friday’s game though, Jack Brady, Denzil Fernandes are doubts while Gerardo Bruna continues to miss out.

This is an incredibly exciting project for the club and it will provide an important educational pathway for 25 young women and men.”

Shelbourne Chief Executive Officer David O’Connor said: “Throughout our Academy and senior teams, we have always seen the opportunity that the club has to be used as a vehicle to help young people, not only through football, but through educational and community opportunities. Our players, staff, coaches and fans all come from numerous different backgrounds and though some students and younger people may leave school early, there are always several different ways for them to continue their development and this course, through the power of football and Shelbourne’s community, offers a brilliant opportunity to help further their education.”

Shelbourne FC, Co-Owner, Brian McGovern said: As you learn more about Shelbourne FC as an organisation, you get a sense of the priority that the club places on the community. The club is proud of developing great people. It’s this shared drive to always grow and learn that makes this partnership with the FAI and the DDLETB so well aligned with our club’s mission.”

DDLETB/Training Centre Baldoyle Manager Aidan Owens said: Baldoyle TC are delighted to be involved in partnership with the FAI and Shelbourne FC, in this very exciting new initiative based in the Swords/ Fingal area.  It will give a great opportunity to young people to develop the necessary skills to progress to further education or employment.”

Football Association of Ireland Community Development Manager Derek O’Neill said: “The Baldoyle ETB Training centre has been instrumental in supporting this new course which provides an innovative approach to teaching young people the basics of business administration through the lens of operating a football club. This is also a great opportunity for Shelbourne FC to establish roots in the Fingal / North County Dublin area and provide an educational opportunity for young people there The learners on the programme will also increase the club’s visibility locally and hopefully, some will go on to be excellent grassroots club administrators and volunteers of the future. The FAI League of Ireland department is fully supportive of Shelbourne’s community engagement and wishes the club every success in the delivery of this fantastic initiative. Hopefully, more League of Ireland clubs can look to cooperate with local ETBs to deliver similar courses in the future.”

Shels boss Ian Morris said his side are revelling in the return of fans as the season turns to the business side of things with Shels opening their Cup account this Friday night.

The Reds travel to UCD on Friday for the First Round of the FAI Cup and Morris said it is a chance to take a brief “mental break from the league” in what he sees as another crucial competition.

“The fans have already been fantastic and it’s made a massive difference to the players which we hope can just keep growing,” he added.

However, Morris praised his players ability to adapt to sweltering heat last weekend but knows it will be a similar story this week.

“The players have had to stay hydrated and prepare well which they have been doing every evening.

“It was a massive credit to them in that heat which was tough last week and it will be the same again Friday,” he added.

Shels will continue to be without Yoyo Mahdy who has started running in training this week as he nears a return to action.

New signing Eric Molloy will be available for the Reds who continue to miss out on Gerardo Bruna.

Shelbourne FC is delighted to announce the signing of winger Eric Molloy after his most recent spell with Waterford FC.

The 28-year-old joins the Reds after spells in Poland with Stomil Olsztyn and in New Zealand with Team Wellington and Southern United.

His League of Ireland experience comes from winning the 2015 First Division with Wexford and Premier Division years with Wexford and Waterford before time abroad.

Molloy has impressed after time spent training with the Reds and will be available for selection for the remainder of the season.

Molloy said “it feels great” to join the Reds and he said “we’re coming up to the business end of the season now where every game means a lot so there’s a lot to look forward to.”

“There’s a lot of work to be done so if we continue what we’re doing, and maybe add to that, I think things could go well until the end of the season,” he said.

“Shels are a very big club with a lot of history. The club is doing really well and there’s a plan for the next few years with the Premier Division, where I feel Shels should be,” he added.

Shelbourne Manager Ian Morris said he was thrilled to have secured Eric’s signing.

“We had Eric in last summer and he got a fantastic offer from Poland at the time, but there was an opportunity to sign him so it’s great to have him.

“He’s a really fit lad who has been looking really well getting goals for Waterford so it’s a good addition,” he added.

Shelbourne boss Ian Morris said it was “crucial” to hold a behind closed doors friendly midweek where he was able to give returning players valuable minutes ahead of the second half of the season.

Shels will remain without Yoyo Mahdy this week, who is targeting a return for next week’s cup game against UCD.

Denzil Fernandes, however, is available for selection and played in Monday’s friendly game at the AUL.

“It was important to get some players match sharp and back in the frame. You never know what’s going to happen, so players need to be ready,” he added.

Morris has hammered home to his team the importance of maintaining the “hunger and desire” going into what he sees as a critical weekend of games in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.

“It’s a weekend where teams can make a jump up or down in one round games. There’s no room for anyone to get carried away at this stage of the season,” he added.

Morris said he was encouraged last week by the Shels performance which he said was “excellent” despite the late disappointment with the Treaty equaliser.

“We just need to keep that focus. We’re scoring goals and creating chances which put us in a position to turn teams over which we need to keep taking,” he said.

“Athlone will be a difficult team to play against. They train and play on that astro so will be well used to it, but we’ll be prepared,” he added.

Morris said he has underage players such as Alex Nolan “who have been knocking on the door the past few weeks and giving him options.”

However, the Shels manager said he is “always looking to add another dimension to help and improve the squad” and failed to rule out any additions to the squad in the coming week or so.

Gerardo Bruna continues to miss out while Shels have no suspensions going into tomorrow’s game.

Shels boss Ian Morris said his side are prepared for a “big battle” in Limerick tomorrow night as the Reds travel to Markets Field for the first time to face high flying Treaty United.

Shels play joint second place Treaty in a top of the table clash as they look to extend their impressive string of winning games.

The last game Shels failed to win was Treaty United at Tolka Park in a thrilling 2-2 draw and Morris said his side will have to lift their levels to get the win in Limerick.

“We’ve had a really good week. We have bodies coming back now aside from Sean Quinn who has gone on (to the US).

“Treaty are flying winning five of their last six games and they’re scoring goals with bags of experience,” he said.

Morris said his side will be looking to improve on their 1-0 performance over Cabinteely last week and will be hopeful of Yoyo Mahdy returning to the squad with a fitness test due later.

Denzil Fernandes has also returned to running with training in a welcome boost after a difficult facial injury ruled him out recently.

Gerardo Bruna continues to miss out while Shels have no suspensions.

Morris also praised the fans over the weekend as his players finally begin to play in front of the Reds faithful.

However, with a home Limerick crowd expected, Morris said his side need to “feed off their support in a different way” as they face into what he refers to as a “huge game.”

“It has that big game feel to it, and we’re really looking forward to it,” he added.
