Shels team news : FAI Cup v UCD

Shels boss Ian Morris said his side are revelling in the return of fans as the season turns to the business side of things with Shels opening their Cup account this Friday night.

The Reds travel to UCD on Friday for the First Round of the FAI Cup and Morris said it is a chance to take a brief “mental break from the league” in what he sees as another crucial competition.

“The fans have already been fantastic and it’s made a massive difference to the players which we hope can just keep growing,” he added.

However, Morris praised his players ability to adapt to sweltering heat last weekend but knows it will be a similar story this week.

“The players have had to stay hydrated and prepare well which they have been doing every evening.

“It was a massive credit to them in that heat which was tough last week and it will be the same again Friday,” he added.

Shels will continue to be without Yoyo Mahdy who has started running in training this week as he nears a return to action.

New signing Eric Molloy will be available for the Reds who continue to miss out on Gerardo Bruna.
