As part of our partnership with DCU, announced earlier this year, we will be hosting a special information event for Shelbourne FC players and parents/guardians on 13 October at DCU’s campus in Glasnevin. This event is for players who are currently attending secondary school (1st – 6th years inclusive) and would like to find out more about 3rd level educational opportunities. We will also be providing information for parents who may be considering returning to education as a mature student.
Whilst information will be provided on Scholarships and Elite Entry schemes, the event will also include lots of general information on subject choices, student grants (SUSI), the CAO application form, alternative entry routes, etc.
The event will begin at 1pm with a general discussion of education and sport featuring:
David O’Connor (Shelbourne FC CEO, former UCD Scholarship Player)
Experts from DCU will provide information on key topics relevant to all students who are considering 3rd level education, whether combined with sport or not. The event will end at approx. 3pm with tours of the facilities at DCU.
We expect the event to be very popular and well-attended so please let us know in advance if you will be coming along and the secondary school the player attends. We would also welcome any questions that you might have in advance, either for the panel or for DCU’s Access Staff. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions on the day but we will note any questions that are sent in in advance and try to address them as part of the presentation.
If you are planning to attend, please send an email to dcuevent@shelbournefc.ie with the following information before Sep 30:
Player's name, school and year
Age
Shelbourne FC team and coach’s name
Any questions you would like to have answered on the day

All at Shelbourne FC were saddened to hear of the recent death of Stephen Evangeledes, more commonly known around Tolka Park as ‘Stephen the Greek’.
Stephen was ever popular with Management, Staff and Supporters of the club, and indeed visiting clubs – always the efficient host, looking after hospitality on match nights at Tolka Park.
Everyone at the club would like to pass our sincere condolences to his family members and to his friends.
Stephen, who passed away in late July, was taken on his final journey to – and is buried in – his native Greece.
May He Rest in Peace.
