Our U19’s play their third game in a week against Athlone Townon Saturday 29thin the AUL Complex with a2pmko.

It has been a good week so far for Murray’s crew following up last Saturday’s win over Bohs with an exhilarating 4-2 win over Galway Unitedon Tuesday– with goals from Conor Keeley, Dayle Rooney, Aaron Ralph and Ross Coyle.

Athlone have suffered two defeats – narrowly losing 2-1 to St Pats last Saturday and unfortunately losing in the Midlands El Classicoon Wed5-1.

Once again the trio of Fintan Devlin, George Mukete and Luke Doyle are not available due to injury although Fintan looks like his injury is not as bad as first taught and might even be able to start training next week.

There is a couple of bumps and bruises but otherwise clean bill of health and no suspensions.

A very quick turnaround for our U19s who are back in actiontonightagainst our friends from the west Galway United.

Both teams played the weekend, with Murray’s crew registering a very satisfactory 3-2 win over our north-side rivals Bohemians – with goals from Dayle Rooney, Jayson Groves and Skipper Gavon Kearney, while Galway suffered last minute disaster, losing 1-2 to Shamrock Rovers in Eamonn Deacy Parkon Sunday, with an 89th minute penalty initially saved by keeper Kevin Horgan only for Rovers skipper Morgan to score the rebound. Galway had to play the last half an hour with ten men, as Maurice Nugent was unlucky to receive two yellows cards.

Unfortunately, for the Reds, Fintan Devlin received nasty injury on Saturday and will be out oftonight’sgame, joining the long-term injured duo of George Mukete and Luke Doyle in the stand.

On the positive side, Conor Keeley is available after suspension and Cian Kennedy has recovered from his injury.

Kick off is at6.30pmin Tolka Park.

The New Interim U19 season kicks-off this weekend, running to early December.

Once again Martin Murray is at the helm, ably backed up byGer Ralph, Anto Kennedy and Mark Frazer again and joined by new back room staff member Paul Kirwan and old boy Nathan Murphy – back in capacity of goalkeeping coach.

Martin once againhas had to rebuilt with ELEVENnew players coming in, with Jack Brady, Ryan Robinson, Darragh Gannon and Aaron Robinson all stepping up to Kevin Doherty’s squad, all four are eligible to play at 19s but will have no involvement. AhuObhakhan, Andrew Ward and Ross O’Brien all taking up Scholarships in the US and Aaron ( Red ) Robinson taking up a scholarship with UCD.

Stephen Meaney and Fintan Devlin stepped up from Shelbourne’s own Academy, First team Adam O’Connor’s brother Craig joining the club along with Robert Duggan, Cian Fogarty, Matt Lyons, James Brown, Dayle Rooney, Ross Coyle, Jayson Groves,Gavin Balfe and of this eleven, NINE areeligible to play U17.

Elevenplayers have been retained Eric Donnelly and Conor Keeley, who have already been involved with the first team, Cian Kennedy, Gavin Kearney, Luke Doyle, Glenn Carragher, Ronan O’Flynn, Aaron Ralph, Dylan Grimes, Andy Gorman, and George Mukete – and again five of these are eligible to play U17, so you see a very young group.

The season kick-off onSaturday (22nd August)against our Northside rivals Bohemians, who are the Northern champions, with anoonkick-off in the fine venue of the IT Blanchardstown.

Unfortunately Conor Keeley is not available due to suspension forreaching four yellow cards at the end of last season. George Mukete is injured and Cian Kennedy needs a late fitness test.

Murray’s crew will have their first home gameon Tuesday25th, at home in Tolka Park to Johnny Glynn’s Galway Utd with6.30pmkick off.

We hope that you will come along and support these young players during the season.
