SSE Airtricity Under 17 Elite League

BOHEMIANS vs SHELBOURNE

Saturday, September 26th 2015

Kick-off 3.00pm

Posted on

Our 19s are back in action on Saturday, playing the league leaders Shamrock Rovers, at home in Tolka Park and again onTuesdaynight in Tallaght. Murray’s crew are one point behind the leaders.

Both teams won 4-0 last weekend with Rovers beating Athlone Town and the young Shels winning away to Longford 4-0 with goals from Aaron Ralph, Dayle Rooney, Jayson Groves and Robert Duggan.

Murray has almost a full crew to select from, as Fintan Devlin back from injury, though this game may be to soon for his return to action, leaving only long term injury George Mukete not available.

It has the ingredients to be a cracker as both teams play exciting football.

Saturday26th Shelbourne FC vs Shamrock Rovers Tolka Park at12.00pm. Come along and lend your support !!

ATHLONE TOWN 2 (Cian O’Sullivan 34′, Daniel Purdy 59′)

SHELBOURNE 1 (Dylan McGlade 50′)

Report from sseairtricityleague.ie

Daniel Purdy hit a cracking winner to give Athlone Town victory for the first time in seven league games as Shelbourne blew a chance to get right back into play-off contention at Lissywollen.

Midfielder Cian O’Sullivan put Town ahead on 34 minutes when he volleyed to the net from just inside the area. Purdy then hit post with a shot from long range just before half-time.

Shels levelled six minutes into the second half. Town keeper Paddy Dunican and defender Stephen Dunne got their wires crossed to allow winger Dylan McGlade in to poke hope from close range.

But Purdy won it with the goal of the game on the hour mark when turning neatly on the edge of the area to curl a shot to the top corner of Greg Murray’s net.

Athlone Town: Patrick Dunican, Aidan Friel, Derek Doyle, Stephen Dunne, Gavin Boyne, Conor Dunne, Adam Kelly, Daniel Purdy, Philip Gorman, Sam O’Connor, Cian O’Sullivan.

Substitutes: Colm Murray, Thomas Mulroney, Ryan Gaffey, Ian Fletcher, Daniel Molloy, Aaron O’Neill, Aidan Byrne.

Shelbourne: Greg Murray, Adam O’Connor, Evan Osam (Mark Sandford 81′), Ryan Robinson, Sean Heaney, Daire Doyle, Gareth Coughlan (Conor Earley 62′), Jake Donnelly (Carl Walshe 68′), Philip Hughes, James English, Dylan McGlade

Substitutes not used: Jack Brady, Paul Andrews, Colm Crowe, Darragh Gannon.
