Midfielder Alex O’Hanlon has today put pen to paper, signing with Shelbourne for the coming season.
The left-sided player, who can either play fullback or further up as a wide midfielder played for St. Kevins before joining the Liverpool FC Academy in May 2011. He spent five years at Anfield, progressing through the underage ranks without making a senior league appearance for the Reds, before leaving the club in the summer of 2016.
In January 2017, he signed for St.Patricks Athletic, then managed by Liam Buckley and scored on his senior competitive debut, a 4-0 win away to Bray Wanderers in the Leinster Senior League at the end of that January. He made 17 league appearances for ‘the Saints’, scoring twice. In January 2018, he signed a short-term contract until the end of the season with Glentoran in the NIFL Premiership, where he made three league appearances.
Alex has played international football our country at all levels from Under 15s up to Under 21s.

Shelbourne manager Ian Morris has today signed Aidan Friel (ex-Finn Harps) ahead of the 2019 season.
Aidan is a native of Strabane and played for local club Strabane Athletic before signing with Eddie Wallace’s Athlone Town in January 2015 and made his debut for the Lisseywollen side at home to Finn Harps the following June. He went on to make 17 league appearances there that season.
In December that year, he signed for newly promoted Wexford Youths where he made 26 league appearances and two in their losing play-offs, where they were relegated to the first division.
November 2016 saw him leave the Wexford club and sign for Longford Town and played in 19 league games before once again moving at the end of the season, this time to Ballybofey, where he joined Ollie Horgan’s, Finn Harps.
The 2018 season saw Harps come second in the First Division, gaining promotion to the Premier Division by way of the playoffs against Limerick FC. Aidan made 20 league appearances (scoring once – in Harps 7-1 win at home to Cabinteely in September).
We welcome Aidan to Ian’s fast developing squad for the coming season.
