Shelbourne FC is inviting people from all across Dublin to join us this weekend at Tolka Park and show their support for women’s football.

Noel King’s WNL champions play their final match before departing for their UEFA Champions League qualifiers next week.

Shelbourne FC is extending an invitation to supporters of all affiliations and none to join us at Tolka Park this Saturday, August 13th, for the WNL game with Treaty United (KO 2pm).

Shelbourne FC are reducing ticket prices for the fixture from €7 to €5 for adults, with admittance for all children under 16 completely free.

The club are also offering complimentary plus ones for every season ticket holder to attend the game with a friend.

Shelbourne FC would like to encourage underage teams from across the city to join us on what promises to be a memorable day for Irish women’s football.

The club will offer complimentary group passes for underage teams and their coaches and mentors.

We’d encourage any team interested in joining us in Tolka Park on August 13th to contact Keith McDarby to make arrangements: Keith.McDarby@shelbournefc.ie

We hope to have a big crowd at Tolka Park for what will be the final WNL game before Noel King’s side jet off for their UEFA Champions League qualification campaign.

New signing Heather O’Reilly is in line to make her second home appearance for the Reds in the game, having got her first taste of the WNL as a second half substitute in the game against Sligo Rovers, and having started the FAI Cup win over Peamount United.

Fans will have a chance to meet the players after the game, get photos and autographs and we’ll have a special limited edition poster of World Cup winner and three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Heather O’Reilly.

We hope to see you on Saturday for what promises to be a special occasion for the club.

Shelbourne FC learned late on Friday that Sunday’s game against St Pat’s has been called off by the FAI due to St Pats being unable to fulfil the fixture as a result of their travel plans.

We note that the FAI will now review all of the facts in front of them and determine next steps and that they will contact us accordingly to discuss further.

We trust this review will recognise that rescheduling would cause a further fixture backlog for Shelbourne FC. As it stands, we have had just two home games in 3 months.

Equally, it is incredibly unfair on our supporters, volunteers and the Gardai to have had Sunday’s game called off at short notice, especially considering that this fixture had previously been rescheduled from Friday.

We share our supporters’ frustration at the inconvenience this has caused to everyone at the club.

Season ticket holders and ticket purchasers will be contacted directly in relation to refunds.

Shelbourne Football Club would like to thank The 1895 Trust for their continued support.

The independent Shelbourne FC supporters trust have paid €1,550 to fund the purchase and training for an AED for the Shelbourne FC WNL side.

The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a machine that is used to treat cardiac arrest, the device plays a vital role in saving lives.

The 1895 Trust is an independent supporter’s trust founded by Shelbourne FC fans in October 2012. Last season they came on board as official media partner, and the funds from that sponsorship agreement have played a vital role in the development of LOItv’s enhanced coverage of our WNL fixtures.

Each team is required to have their own portable AED on the bench, this is mandatory in UEFA competitions. The Reds face ZNK Pomurje in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Round One in Murska Sobota on August 18th.

All four matches in Group One of Round One involving The Reds, Valur, FC Hayasa and hosts ZNK Pomurje will take place in towns of Radenci and Murska Sobota. A number of Shels supporters will make the trip, including members of The 1895 Trust.

The Reds will face ZNK Pomurje (Slovenia) in the Round One Semi-Final at the Fazanerija Stadium in Murska Sobota at 17:30 CET on August 18, 2022.

The second Round One Semi-Final between Valur (Iceland) and FC Hayasa (Armenia) will take place at Radenci Sportspark in Radenci at 11:00 CET on August 18, 2022.

The final will take place on August 21 at 17:30 CET in Murska Sobota at Fazanerija Stadium between the two Semi-Final winners.

The Third-Place Play-Off will take place on the same date at 11:00 CET in Radenci at Radenci Sportspark.

Martin Grehan, Chair of The 1895 Trust said: “The 1895 Trust are delighted to be able to support Shelbourne WNL side as they set off on their Champions’ League adventure. We’d like to thank the 250 or so fans and supporters who helped fund this sponsorship and we look forward to cheering the team on in Slovenia”

Liam Ward, Licensing Officer, Shelbourne FC said:  “We’re very conscious of the need to have an AED available in case of emergencies and that having one close by can make all the difference in giving assistance as quickly as possible. The 1895 Trust’s generous sponsorship allows us to have one pitch-side at training as well as on the bench on match days. It also allowed us to train some staff members and stewards and to service the AED in Tolka Park so the funds have been put to very effective use in improving safety for both players and spectators.”

Shelbourne FC is delighted to announce that long time Club stalwart, Shay Weafer, has been made an Honorary Life Member of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).

This prestigious honour was bestowed on Shay in recognition of his life-long service to football in Ireland.

For almost two decades Shay was a member of both the FAI National Council (now known as the General Assembly) and the FAI Domestic Committee.
