Shelbourne Football Club can confirm the departure of defender Chloe Mustaki on a transfer to Bristol City WFC.

The Republic of Ireland international follows Jessica Ziu and Saoirse Noonan who have also moved across to the UK in recent weeks and the Club would like to wish Chloe the best of luck on her move.

The defender made 22 appearances for Shels crowning her time at the Reds with the 2021 Women’s National League title after a remarkable return from long-term injury.

Chloe has also become a regular feature in the Republic of Ireland WNT during her time at Shels and most notably started in the Irish team that famously drew in Gothenburg against Sweden during the ongoing bid to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

All at Shelbourne FC would like to wish Chloe the very best of luck in her time at Bristol City and the upcoming Republic of Ireland internationals.

Shelbourne FC, Manager, Women’s National League said: “Chloe has had a great influence on everyone at the Club leading by example in everything she has done. We will miss this positive influence but wish her the very best of luck in her new challenge at Bristol. Chloe has a great football mind and a lovely left foot so she will make an impression.”

Chloe Mustaki said: “My time at Shelbourne over the years has been memorable in many ways. I’ve benefitted on and off the pitch from having fantastic players and dedicated staff around me, and I can’t thank the club enough for the support they showed me throughout my injury. Wishing the team every success for the rest of the season, once a red, always a red”

Shels boss Damien Duff says he is hoping his side deliver the three points as well as a performance tomorrow after last week’s loss in Sligo.

Shelbourne welcome Donegal’s Finn Harps to Tolka Park on Friday night looking to erase the two previous defeats at the hands of Ollie Horgan’s side this year.

Despite the loss in Sligo, Shels created numerous chances and had two goals disallowed as well as a ball cleared off the ball at the death but Duff was pleased with the second half performance of his young team.

“Not many teams go to Sligo and dominate, create as many chances as we did while pinning them back but between that, the game in Dalymount and a good draw against Dundalk we’re looking to turn those into wins,” he told shelbournefc.ie.

“I think we’ve been steadily improving over the season – not just at home,” he added.

“Listen Ollie will come down here believing they can win, and rightly so, but we have to stand tall to that.

“I hope we can deliver for the fans tomorrow – a performance and the three points,” he added.

“Training has been good this week and despite results being semi-disappointing, I feel the lads are in good form and we’re looking forward to tomorrow,” he said.

Shels will be without Daniel Hawkins and Sean McSweeney through injury and have no suspensions.

Mark Coyle, however, returns to the match day squad.

Shelbourne Football Club is delighted to announce the extension of midfielder Brian McManus’ contract at the Club until the end of 2023.

After moving to the Reds from Preston North End, Brian has cemented himself into the Shelbourne SSE Airtricity League Premier Division squad under Damien Duff with a string of impressive performances.

Brian, or Frank as he’s more affectionally known within the Club, has made 39 appearances for Shels scoring three times and was a central part of the 2021 Shels team that achieved promotion from the SSE Airtricity League First Division.

The Swords native most notably scored a stunning winner for the Reds in the Brandywell to secure a vital three points against Derry City FC.

A flexible midfielder, Brian can also play as a wing back or across the midfield and has impressed the Shels staff and fans greatly since arriving in 2020.

Brian previously played for St Kevin’s Boys and Preston North End.

Shelbourne FC Head Coach Damien Duff referenced Brian’s knickname at the Club when commenting on his signing and said: “I’m delighted Frank has extended his stay here with us. He has had an unfortunate few months with injuries but it is like having a new signing having him back fit now. He has amazing qualities as a midfielder and we look forward to seeing him grow as a player. He is a big part of the squad on and off the pitch. The players and staff are delighted that he is committing his future to Shelbourne FC.”

Brian McManus said: “I’m delighted to sign back for the Club until the end of 2023. For me, it was a no-brainer as I feel Shelbourne FC is the best place in the country to develop as a young player and I am looking forward to the coming months with the rest of the team.”

Shelbourne boss Damien Duff says his team will be prepared for a Sligo team “full of fresh impetus and energy” after a recent managerial change.

The Reds travel to The Showgrounds tomorrow night to face John Russell’s side having gained two wins over the Sligo team this year thus far.

“The confidence is there alright but it doesn’t automatically mean you just turn up and you beat them again. You know how they can change,” Duff told shelbournefc.ie

“We know their profile of the player and the squad – the formation hasn’t changed too much but our boys will be ready to go,” he added.

“ We’re never happy and our remit this year is to stay up while we’re getting to the business end of the season we’ve asked the players where do you want to go?

“It’s down to us – we’re in a good position but it’s up to the players whether if they want to go up or down,” he said.

Shelbourne’s Mark Coyle has returned to training but will need a little while longer for the match day squad while Daniel Hawkins and Sean McSweeney continue to miss out through long term injury.

Stanley Anaebonam is no longer with the Club and we wish Stan the best in his future career.

Shels have no suspensions going into Saturday’s game while Duff said he was looking forward to seeing the travelling hoards of Shelbourne fans once more out west.
