Shelbourne FC in partnership with Dublin City University are delighted to invite applications for the DCU Sport Scholarships and Elite Sportspersons Academic Entry Schemes from players who will be completing the Leaving Certificate this year.
DCU and Shelbourne have recently formed a unique strategic partnership under which elite players can pursue their footballing ambitions in our male and female National League teams whilst studying for a prestigious university degree.
Click on the links below for further details of the benefits of the DCU schemes and of how to apply. Please note the 1 May deadline for applications.
Lifelong Shels fan and current first team coach Davy O’Connor is currently training to run 10 marathons in 10 days from April 20 to April 29. He is doing this in aid of mental health charity Aware.
Davy has decided to complete the challenge, which has a total distance of 262 miles, 330 yards, on an athletics track in ALSAA.
“The reason I have chosen an athletics track for this challenge is to symbolise the isolation, pain & never-ending feeling associated with various degrees of mental health illness,” Davy said.
“The positive angle is that if you surround yourself with the right people & develop the right mindset, then anything is possible.”
We urge all Shelbourne supporters to get behind Davy in any way you can. If anyone is in a position to offer a financial contribution, however big or small, they can do so at the link below.
You can also spread awareness for Davy’s inspirational challenge by tweeting #aware10in10.
Davy – and everyone at the club – appreciates your support. Up the Reds.

I also want to use my sporting and working experience to help the club develop both on and off the field.”
