Due to circumstances beyond our control, the CLUB SHOP will not be open this Wednesday (28th Jan).
We will be open as usual on Saturday, from 1pm to 4pm, with
Martin Murray’s Shelbourne Under19’s travelled to the North West and brought all three points back.
Things didn’t start too well, losing influential centre back Conor Keeley to concussion last night, but as usual they just got on with it.
Playing with a strong breeze in the first half Shels started brightly, but it was very evident from early on, thatFinn Harps weren’t going togo toe to toe. They put men behind the ball and at every opportunity put the ball out of play,to break the game up – and a lack of a second ball didn’t help to speed things up. But on 11 minutes, Shelbourne got their reward when David Pakenham, was played in anda rash tackle in the box by Harps centre half led to Davy being up-ended and the awarding of a penalty, which Armstrong Bekombo duly despatched to the net. The rest of the half was as uninspiring, as Harps only had one objective – to stop Shelbourneby any means possible.
Second half kicked of and Shels midfield of Bekombo, Robinson and Grimes started to orchestrate the game, pulling the strings and putting both Pakenham and Obhakhan in. Eventually, in the 63rd minute, anexcellent move by Pakenham and Mukete, and with Pakenham putting in a precision pass for Mukete to finish to the net with a deft touch. At this stage, Shels were bombing at all angles and in the 71st minute, they put the game beyond Harps with that man Pakenham, again, working with Obhakhan and this timeAhu finished to the net.
Manager Martin Murray emptied his bench at this stage to give debuts to new signings, Glenn Carragher and Aaron Ralph -Cian Kennedy being the first of the trio, making his debut from the start.
It’s amazing too, thatthis Shels teamfinished with only one19 year-old on the pitch (man-of-the-match David Pakenham) and FOUR 16 year-olds (Eric Donnelly, Aaron Ralph, Luke Doyle and George Mukete) and a fifth – DylanGrimes – subbed.
Next up is a friendly against Leinster FA on Wednesday 28th Jan in the Garda Club, Westmanstown with a 6.15pm ko – and then, home to Letterkenny Rovers, in the League next Saturday (31st Jan) in Stella Maris ground (Richmond Road) with 2pm ko.
Shelbourne Team: Jack Brady (Eric Donnelly 80′), Andy Gorman, Cian Kennedy, Gavin Kearney, Luke Doyle, Armstrong Bekombo (Glen Carragher 75′),Aaron Robinson (Capt), Dylan Grimes (Aaron Ralph 80′), David Pakenham, Ahu Obhakhan (Ronan O’Flynn 70′) and George Mukete.
Management: Martin Murray, Ger Ralph, Anthony Kennedy, Mark Frazer, Ciaran Bizzell and Gary-Matthew O’Toole

Kevin Doherty Captures Jordan Keegan for Shelbourne
Despite Keen Interest from Premier Clubs
Manager Kevin Doherty has suceeded in obtaining the signature on Jordan Keegan for the new season. Jordan has been in talks with at least two Premier Division clubs, but has opted to stay with the Tolka Park club for at least another season.
Following his return from Southampton, Jordan Keegan joined Saint Patrick’s Athletic in 2011 and played his first game against Cliftonville in the Setanta Sports Cup in February. His time at St. Pat’s was short however and after playing in twelve games for the Inchicore club, he moved to Monaghan United in July that season.
He helped ‘the Mons’ to promotion, scoring four goals in twelve games, as well as both games in the Play-offs against Galway Utd.
Keegan featured in thirteen games for the Gortakeegan club, including one where he scored twice for United in the league game away to Dundalk – something that was to stand to him later in his career.
Monaghan withdrew from the Airtricity League in June 2012 and in the months that followed, Jordan played in a summer tour in Ireland for Scunthorpe United, obviously impressing – as he was signed by them in August. Things didn’t work out too well for him at his new club, playing in just a handful of games in August and September, and he returned to Ireland.
He signed for St. Patrick’s Athletic at the start of the 2013 season. Again, his time at Inchicore was not the happiest and he made just two substitute appearances, the final one being in late April and he was released by Pats in July.
With memories of his brace against them twelve months earlier, Dundalk were not slow to capture his signature, for the remaining months of the season. He made six appearances for the ‘Lilywhites’, helping them to get to second position in the league, behind St. Pats, but was released at the end of his contract.
In December ’13, Keegan signed for Cherry Orchard, but the draw of the Airtricity League was too great, resulting in him signing for the ‘Real Reds’last January, ahead of the start of the 2014 season.
Jordan made 21 league appearances in the 2014 season (19 starts, 2 subs) and 3 starts in the FAI Cup. He clocked up 4 goals in the league and one in the FAI Cup.
