Youth Academy seeks expressions of interest in girls’ teams

Womens team celebrate with the cup

At the beginning of last season, Shelbourne FC took significant steps towards parity of esteem for our Women’s National League teams. The response from players, supporters and sponsors was overwhelmingly positive.

Also in 2019, we introduced a new “Player & Coach Development Programme” for our boys’ teams and we are seeing the fruits of that work in terms of the quality of the people that we are attracting to the Academy. We believe that our girls’ teams should now benefit from a similar approach.

In order to do that, the existing “Shelbourne FC Girls Academy” will be wound down over the coming weeks and new structures have been put in place within our Youth Academy for girls’ teams.

We are seeking expressions of interest from girls born between 2004 and 2011 (inclusive) who would like to join the Shelbourne FC Youth Academy and be part of our pathway to the Women’s National League. Shelbourne players can also benefit from educational opportunities through our relationship with Dublin City University.

We would also like to hear from coaches interested in joining our Academy to work with these teams as part of our Coach Education Programme which offers a development pathway for coaches and is run by our Head of Youth Development, Stephen Henderson.

Stephen is a UEFA Pro Licence and Elite Youth A licence-holder and an experienced and respected manager at the highest level. We would especially welcome expression of interest from female coaches.

Open training sessions will be held in the AUL Complex from 18:30 – 20:00 on Tuesday, July 7, and Thursday, July 9.

Coaches and parents/guardians of players that would like to join the Shelbourne FC Youth Academy are invited to respond to by completing this form online
