Two Hoops Join Reds on Loan

Shelbourne manager Kevin Doherty has arranged for two players from Shamrock Rovers to join Shelbourne for 2016.

Centre midfielder Cian Kavanagh joined Shelbourne on loan from Shamrock Rover, for the 2016 season.

Exciting young midfielder Cian Kavanagh joined Shamrock Rovers Under 19s from St. Kevin’s Boys during the summer of 2013. Compared by the then U19 Hoop’s manager Declan Hevey to being in the “Ronan Finn mould”, Cian indeed proved himself to be an influential figure in the middle of the park for the Under 19 team. Gradual involvement with the first team in the 2014 season saw him make the move up to the seniors for the 2015 season.

He made twenty appearances for the First Division side, scoring two goals in the process, whilst also getting picked for the Premier Division side and playing in the 3-0 win over UCD in September 2014.

Another up-and coming Rovers’ player, Midfielder Dylan Kavanagh has also joined Shelbourne on loan.

Dylan joined Shamrock Rovers in June 2014 from UCD and made his debut for the First Division team away to Cobh Ramblers at St. Colman’s Park.

Essentially a wide midfield player, he can also perform in the centre and is comfortable at left full also. Having finished his time at Under 19 level Dylan was brought up to the Rovers’ first team squad. He made his first team debut in the League Cup in early April away to Cabinteeley.
