Welcome to the Shelbourne Football Club Academy, where over 450 aspiring footballers are currently honing their skills and pursuing their dreams of becoming professional athletes. Our academy is a vibrant hub of talent development, fostering the next generation of football stars through a blend of elite training and holistic personal growth.

Our academy boasts an impressive array of 27 underage teams, comprising 9 girls’ teams and 18 boys’ teams. This diverse lineup provides a robust platform for young players to develop their abilities in a supportive and competitive environment.

Among these teams, we proudly host 6 underage National League teams, including 4 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams. This inclusion highlights our commitment to gender equality in sports, ensuring that both male and female athletes have equal opportunities to excel and compete at the highest levels. Our dedication to fostering a balanced and inclusive environment sets us apart as a leader in youth football development.

The Shelbourne FC Academy is the ideal stepping stone for aspiring footballers seeking career progression. Our comprehensive training programs, combined with access some of Ireland’s best training facilities and experienced coaching staff, create an environment where young talents can thrive. This commitment to excellence is exemplified by the recent success of one of our academy products, Lewis Temple, who graduated to the first team ahead of the 2024 season. Lewis’s journey from the academy to the senior squad underscores the effectiveness of our development pathways and the high standards we maintain.

Reds in Green

Notably, Shelbourne FC stands as one of only two clubs in the country to have all six underage National League teams qualify for the Elite phase of the National League in 2023. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about the caliber of talent within our ranks and the effectiveness of our development programs. It underscores our position as a leading force in youth football, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of football stars.

Our underage teams’ success is exemplified by the outstanding performances of our U17 men’s and women’s teams, both of which clinched their respective National League titles in the preceding year. This dual triumph is a testament to the high standards of training, discipline, and teamwork instilled in our players from a young age.

In 2023, our dedication to excellence was further highlighted by the fact that over 20 players from our academy were capped at international level. This impressive feat showcases the quality of coaching and comprehensive development programs offered at Shelbourne FC. Our players’ international recognition is a clear indicator of the robust training environment we provide, which equips young athletes with the skills and mindset necessary to compete on the global stage.
