The League One side finished their tour of Ireland on a high-note as they outclassed a youthful Shelbourne outfit

A Billy Clarke double and goals from Alan Sheehan and Raffaele De Vita ensured Bradford ended their week-long stay in Ireland with a comfortable win.

Bradford manager, Phil Parkinson, will have been pleased with his side’s efforts despite coming up against a youthful Shelbourne starting XI as they continue preparations for the start of their League One campaign.

The visitors opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Sheehan’s cross struck the hand of Shelbourne captain Willo McDonagh. Sheehan struck the resulting penalty past Jack Brady to score his first goal for the club since signing from Notts County on a free transfer.

The Bantams doubled their lead midway through the first-half as Clarke expertly finished after being put through by Dublin-born midfielder Mark Yeates. However, there were suggestions that Shelbourne should have been awarded a free-kick moments earlier.

Summer signing Clarke scored his second of the afternoon early in the second-half as he produced a wonderful finish from 25 yards out. Along with Clarke, manager Phil Parkinson fielded five out of his seven summer signings in what was an encouraging display.

Bradford added a well deserved fourth goal with less than 15 minutes remaining as the out-of-contract De Vita fired a low strike across goal to compound the Irish side’s misery.

Phil Parkinson and his squad return to the UK this evening with less than three weeks before the start of the League One season. Meanwhile, Shelbourne’s first team will look to move to the top of the First Division table with a win over Shamrock Rovers B on Sunday afternoon.
