A native of Ardee, Co. Louth, Kian started out his career with Drogheda Town before moving onto Drogehda Boys, Shels, St. Kevins and St. Patricks Athletic before his move across the water to Reading.

Leavy is described as an old-fashioned number 10 but can also play in a number of positions. He joins a Reds squad consisting of Conor Kearns, Scott van-der-Sluis, Luke Byrne, JR Wilson, Conor Kane, Shane Griffin, Tyreke Wilson, Andrew Quinn, Luke Browne, Lewis Temple, Kameron Ledwidge, Paddy Barrett, Shane Farrell, Gavin Molloy, Jad Hakiki, Brian McManus, JJ Lunney, Aodh Dervin, Evan Caffrey, Mark Coyle, Matty Smith, Kyle Robinson, Sean Boyd, Jack Moylan and Gavin Hodgins.

Shelbourne FC Men’s First Team Head Coach Damien Duff said: “I am really excited to start working with Kian. He has tremendous ability, a big heart and can play many positions. I admire that he has left his comfort zone to come and test himself in a very tough league. He is another great addition to the squad.”

Speaking on his announcement Leavy told shelbourenfc.ie: “It’s a great opportunity for my development to come to Shelbourne and the way of playing will really suit my game. Speaking to Damien (Duff) and the staff it has been really exciting so I’m looking forward to the year ahead. From watching the club last season the talent in the squad is huge and I’m looking forward to joining up with the lads and bringing success to Shels this year”
