Shelbourne FC announce formation of Independent Supporters Committee

Shelbourne FC has today announced the formation of the club’s first Independent Supporters Committee ahead of the 2022 season.

The Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) has been set up to enhance dialogue between the club and supporters, to understand all relevant matters affecting Shelbourne Football Club supporters and to ensure input from fans into the strategic long term direction of the club.

The Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) will consist of 12 members, drawn from all of the major constituencies amongst our supporter base, who will engage directly with club officials and senior leadership. One of the primary objectives of the Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) is to foster honest, constructive and consistent lines of communication between the fanbase and Shelbourne Football Club.

The formation of the Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) will be guided by best practice principles from groups like Football Supporters’ Association and Supporters Direct Europe, as well as clubs in the UK and Europe who have also developed Independent Supporter Committees, Supporter Advisory Boards or similar independent representative groups for fans.

In the coming weeks, the club will engage directly with organised supporter groups around the formation of the Independent Supporters Committee (ISC). The club is also inviting those supporters interested in joining the Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) to register their interest at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdhG9xjiHX34Bq3hTIeZD7v10ksKOFR-Cd0gdVo-bUKQ2JzLQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

Shelbourne FC Chairman Andrew Doyle said: “The launch of the Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) reinforces Shelbourne FC’s commitment to meaningful fan engagement. It will help the club to fully understand what issues impact and concern our supporters and we will ensure that their voices are heard.”

Shelbourne FC Supporter Liaison Officer Darren Cleary added: “Today’s announcement underpins the club’s commitment to meaningful and regular engagement with the supporters. The  Independent Supporters Committee (ISC) will play a key role in advocating for a fans’ first approach and ensuring supporters play an important part in shaping the future of Shelbourne Football Club.”
