Midfielder Ryan Brennan (formerly with St Patricks Athletic) signed for Shelbourne on Dec 3rd 2018, for the 2019 season.
Ryan played his schoolboy football with Drogheda Boys before signing for Drogheda United Youths in 2007.
He made his senior debut as a substitute for Drogheda against Dundalk in March 2010. His first senior start came at home to Sligo Rovers later that month in a 2-2 draw. He made 29 appearances that season but United were relegated but got a reprieve when Sporting Fingal went to the wall. Ryan had, however, signed for Monaghan United and went on to make 23 league appearances, scoring six times in that season.
The following year, Ryan re-signed for Drogheda under Mick Cooke, made 24 league appearances and scored three goals. He added another 29 appearances and six goals the following year.
He joined Shamrock Rovers ahead of the 2014 Premier Division season. He made 24 league appearances, with three goals that season as the Hoops qualified for Europe with a 4th place finish. Ryan continued with the Hoops the following year with 25 league appearances and scoring once – in a 3-0 win against Bray Wanderers. He played in three of the Tallaght side’s European games that season.
He signed a two-year deal with Bray Wanderers ahead of the 2016 season, when he made 22 league appearances but scorer just one league goal. His tally for 2017 with the Seasiders was 31 league appearances with 6 goals.
Ryan joined St Patricks Athletic for the 2018 season, played in 34 league games and scored on four occasions.
Having scored five goals in 26 league games (missing only one), Ryan re-signed for the 2020 season on October 7th ’19
