Evan Caffrey joined Shels from UCD before the start of the 2023 season and has never looked back.

Caffrey is the grandson of the late Reds legend Theo Dunne; the only man to lead an Irish club out at the Nou Camp during the Reds visit there for a European Cup clash in 1963. Theo also lifted the FAI Cup for Shelbourne in 1960.

Evan came through the underage system at Shamrock Rovers, playing with their U15s in 2018, where he played under Damien Duff and their U17s in 2019.

In 2021, Caffrey joined UCD and scored on his debut for them in a 2-1 win against Wexford at the Belfield Bowl in July. The midfielder went on to make 9 appearances that season for the Students.

A versatile player who has played multiple roles since signing for Shelbourne, Evan never shirks from hard work and has a keen eye for creating and scoring goals. He contributed three goals of his own as well as five assists in the league campaign of 2025. Evan has packed plenty of success into his spell at the club and his desire to excel further will no doubt be on display in 2026.
