Shelbourne Football Club is delighted to announce the extension of Tyreke Wilson’s contract.

The 23-year-old joined the Reds from Bohemian FC last winter and last season made 33 appearances in the League of Ireland Premier Division, including 29 starts.

A versatile defender, Wilson featured at both right back and left back for the Reds across the 2023 season.

Wilson played his schoolboy football with Cherry Orchard before moving to Manchester City where he spent five seasons in the Citizens academy.

He left England to return home to begin his League of Ireland career, first with Waterford FC, before joining Bohs in 2021, where he spent two seasons.

Damien Duff, Head Coach, Shelbourne FC said: “What a brilliant signing Ty has been for the club. He came as an out and out left back, but finished the season playing right wing back on top of many other new positions. That shows the football brain he has. We love working with him, he is a top quality footballer with an absolute edge as well which is important. Welcome back Ty.”

Tyreke Wilson said: “Delighted to be a part of the club again for 2024. Really excited to get going again. We want to kick on again next year, although last season was good and we got into Europe. We want to get to the next level again. Last year was the most enjoyable year I’ve had in football and I’m hoping next year will be better again. Everyone part of the group wants to push on in the league and all the competitions. We want to bring silverware to Tolka because that’s what this club is about. The support from the fans was incredible last year and I can only imagine it will get better and it makes you want to give everything for them at all costs . So it’s a very exciting place to be this year. We are on the up.”
