Michael Kelly & Mikey Murphy join Heary’s Squad

The signing of Michael Kelly from Killester United and Mikey Murphy from Shelbourne U19s, brings Owen Hearys new signings to five.

Michael Kelly played his schoolboy football with St. Kevins, joining UCD on a football scholarship in 2007. He was part of the UCD Team that won the Fiest Division title in 2009.

In 2011 he went to Australia where he played withHeidelberg United, in the VPL, and the following season crossed Melbourne to sign forSunshine George Cross FC. He returned to UCD at the start of 2013 but injury ruled him out for much of that season, his first game being against Bohemians August. He played in six league games by the end of the season.

Michael joined the new Shamrock Rovers B team in February 2014, and left them to sign for Killester United for the 2014/15 season and was part of their 2015 FAI Cup team.

Seventeen year old Mikey Murphy was signed for the club in 2014 from our friends at Raheny Utd. He represented the NDSL in the Kennedy Cup, while with United.

Mikey played for the Shelbourne Youth Academy for over three years, including under manager Bob Doheny in the Under 16s Premier. From there he progressed to the U17s Elite in the League of Ireland last season and progressed to the Under 19s Elite at the sdtart of this season., managed by Derek Farrell and lamanager and Martin Murray, where he played up to that and represented the NDSL in the Kennedy Cup.

He played with the U17s last season and was promoted to 19s from beginning of this season.

Played in Tom Mohan’s U17 International team in the Elite Qualifiers earlier this season.
