Lewis Temple signs two-year deal

February 14, 2024: Shelbourne FC are delighted to announce that Lewis Temple has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at Tolka Park until the end of 2025.

The talented defender has captained the U20 side during the Leinster Senior Cup group stage and will be part of the first team for the coming season. Temple joined the club from the Bray Wanderers academy.

The 18-year-old played twice for the Reds in 2022, having made his first team debut in the 3-0 win over Bray Wanderers in the FAI Cup, the defender also made an appearance off the bench in the 4-0 win over Bonagee United in the same campaign.

Lewis was a member of the first team squad in 2023 appearing twice, but joined Longford Town on loan during the summer where he made 22 appearances for Stephen Henderson’s side.

A towering central defender, Temple has represented Ireland at youth level where he most recently played for the U19 team.

Damien Duff, Shelbourne FC Head Coach said: “We gave Lewis his debut 2 years ago and he has consistently improved since then. He has a wonderful mentality and has massive scope to become a top player. He is coming off the back of a brilliant pre-season which is one of the many reasons we want him to be part of the squad this year rather than going out again on loan. It is very important to tie down our high potential young players so it is great news that Lew has signed back.”

Lewis Temple said:“I am delighted to be signing a new deal with Shels, I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of years being involved with this club, constantly pushing myself and improving under the manager has been great for my development and I’m really excited now to kick on again and keep improving. It’s exciting to be playing in Europe this year and hopefully I can help this club achieve the goals which we have set out for ourselves this season.”
