Duff looking to build on impressive run in Ringsend Derby

Shelbourne Boss Damien Duff has said he is “building a team that the people can relate to” as the Reds continue to go from strength to strength in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

Shelbourne face a trip to deep south Dublin for the Ringsend Derby on Friday night against league leaders Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.

However, the Reds go into the game in fine form following an impressive four wins in a row after last Monday’s win over UCD.

“We know we can mix it with the best of them and this run gives us further belief but we won’t be getting carried away. Like always we’ll park it and we move on,” Duff told shelbournefc.ie.

Shelbourne welcomes Brian McManus back to the matchday squad but remain facing numerous injury doubts as in recent weeks after Adam Thomas, Daniel Hawkins and Sean McSweeney missed out last week.

The Shels Head Coach Duff said his side and coaching staff have been enthused greatly by a vociferous and colourful home and away support so far this season.

“We’re building a team where people can relate to. Whether it’s the working man or woman. I guarantee they just will see lads wearing their hearts on the sleeve day in day out where they’ll give their all for the club,” he said.

“It’s been amazing so far,” he added.

Asked whether he was relishing another Dublin Derby, Duff said “It’s just another three points at stake but we expect the players to be flying with energy levels at full tilt before the break.”

Shelbourne have no suspensions in tomorrow’s game.

Extremely limited tickets for the away end at Tallaght Stadium remain here.
