Conor Mitchell has been appointed Shelbourne FC’s Head of Youth Development.
He has an excellent track record and was Director of Football at Ballyoulster United AFC until 2017 before spending two years with the FAI/DDSL Emerging Talent Programme as U13 Head Coach.
Conor joined the club as manager of our National League U15 side in 2017. In his time with Shelbourne FC, he has shown himself to be a professional and committed individual with a desire to take the Academy in the right direction. He will start immediately on the task of setting out a vision for our Academy and working with the coaching staff and club personnel towards achieving that vision.
We received a large number of applications for this position and we are very grateful to everyone who took the time to apply.
Shelbourne FC Chairman, Joe Casey, said: “This is a key appointment for us as we look to develop our Academy. With the arrival of the underage National Leagues, it’s imperative that we have strong links between our Academy and the senior club. I believe Conor shares that goal and has earned the respect of the people he has worked with at the club since joining us. I have no doubt that he will be a positive force within the Academy and the club as a whole.”
Conor Mitchell said: “I am honoured and privileged to be taking on this position. Shelbourne FC is a fantastic club with a great history in the League of Ireland. The Academy will continue to develop elite players and provide a pathway for these players all the way to the first team. I’m excited about the future of the Academy and what lies ahead and I can’t wait to get started.”
