Mark Sandford hit a brace as Shelbourne made it two wins on the spin against struggling Athlone Town at Lissywollen.

Shels were ahead from Sandford’s opening goal on 17 minutes.

Striker Sandford doubled Shels lead on 64 minutes before Garbhan Coughlan pulled a goal back for Athlone on 84 minutes.

Within four minutes, though, midfielder Dylan McGlade restored Shels’ two goal lead.

Substitute Ian Sweeney got Athlone’s second goal two minutes into added time.
