Shelbourne 2, Longford Town 0

The second of Shelbourne’s Pre-Season games – this time against Longford Town was played in the AUL Complex, Clonshaugh in weather conditions that are becoming legendary for these game before season’s off – wet & bitterly cold. As is the game against Leixlip Town last Monday, Alan Mathews made many changes to the team for the second half. Winning by two goals to nil, Shels scorers were Conan Byrne (following a great through ball by Paddy Kavanagh) and Brendan McGill (tapping in after another of Conan’s shots was parried by the visiting goalkeeper). This game was played as a fund raiser for Shelbourne’s Young Reds schoolboy section. The organising committee would like to thank most sincerely those who helped to organise the game and to all those who paid in to see the game. Shelbourne Starting 11: Dean Delany, Stephen Paisley, Brian Shortall, Lorcan Fitzgerald, Conan Byrne, Kevin Dawson, Gareth O’Connor (John Sullivan), Barry Clancy, Paddy Kavanagh, Philly Hughes.
